Where are They Now?

It is always said when a special television series ends, and the cast and crew scatter off to other projects. I don’t always keep tabs on where everyone goes when shows I like reach their end, but I’ve made a special effort to eep in touch” with my favorites from Fringe. In the three years since the showhas been off the air, the show’s ensemble has been busy. Here are some other projects they either have been in or are currently working on in case you are looking to get a post-Fringe fix:

The show’s creators were already fairly established with their careers and have only added more impressive works to their portfolios. J.J. Abrams, a household name from his work on projects like Alias and Lost, has gone on to executive produce on shows likePerson of Interest,Almost Human, and Revolution. He also has a hand in both the rebirth of both the Star Wars franchise and the new Star Trek films.  Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, his other two co-creators and executive producers on the show, are also involved inthe Star Trek projects. In addition, they team upfor the Spiderman franchise and television shows like Scorpion and Person of Interest.

Although star Anna Torv has been acting for awhile, Olivia was really a breakout role for the talented Australian. She recently completed a sci-fi/horror film called Stephanie that is in post-production at the moment. Although I haven’t found a lot out about it, between her starring role and a writer/director from Fringe being attached to the project, I am confident that it will be good. I am also very happy to report that Torv is currently playing another FBI agent in a Netflix series currently filming. It is called Mindhunter, and I hope to bring you more information as it becomes available.

John Noble has had some minor television series success since his role as Dr. Walter Bishop/Walternate, appearing as a guest star on shows as the long-running The Good Wife as well as a two-episode stint on Rake.In addition, he was a regular named Henry Parrish on Sleepy Hollow, co-created by two of the three executive producers of Fringe. Most recently, he landed a reoccurring role as Sherlock Holmes’ father, Morland Holmes, in the series Elementary.

Joshua Jackson was probably relieved that the show took off the way it did so that he could be remembered for playing someone other than Pacey. He is currently starring as Cole Lockhart in the tv drama series, The Affair. He also appeared in an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a Netflix comedy series.

I really liked Noble in Sleepy Hollow, and I’m definitely excited about both Stephanie and Mindhunter. I can’t wait for those to come out. What about you? Any post-Fringe television or movies you have found to be worth watching?

What’s in Your Parallel Reality?

One of my favorite things about the show was the use of another reality. It was always an interesting way to present another storyline or idea while leaving the main thread of the show intact and opening up all kinds of cool ideas. Have you ever wondered what life would be like if there was another you, living in an alternate reality than the life you actually have?

I always thought that it was such a cool concept. I have always wondered what I’d look like on the Other Side.I figure it is entirely possible that any alternate reality selves of mine are probably dead. If that little voice in my head went the other way a few times, I wouldn’t be here, so that is a pretty safe guess. I wasn’t known for doing the smartest of things when I was younger. Although who knows, there could be a me out there that does everything by the book. She probably doesn’t have a single scar or any fun stories to tell at parties. If she’s even invited to parties, that is. Or maybe Alternna(that’s what I call her, alternate + Arianna; not as good as Walternate but I don’t have clever writers on staff) is someone my mom likes a lot better than the real me.Not that THAT’S all too hard to pull off. Maybe that girl actually went to—and finished—a four-year college. Although maybe she has an alternate mom who just sits around smoking weed all day and doing terrible stuff. I have no idea, although I would love to meet that lady. And speaking of moms, I’d love to think that there’s some version of me out in the universe with a kid or two, adorable alternate little mini-me’s that have a dimple in their cheek when they smile.

On the other hand, what if Alternna is a badass version of me out there, working for a company like Massive Dynamic and designing something cool like a truth serum? Or even something nefarious? It would be too bad for this reality if she cured cancer or something, but if she were evil? Not so much. It doesn’t really matter if she blows up the world, because it isn’t really me, is it? She probably goes kickboxing for fun and rides a motorcycle everywhere she goes. I can totally picture her with a ton of eye makeup on and the trail of guys she leaves in her wake. She’d have to be smarter than me, obviously, and way more obnoxious. She couldn’t get to be that high ranking in a disreputable organization if she wasn’t.

When I’m bored at work, these are the kinds of things I think of. I imagine a day in the life of a me that isn’t me, who is on the Other Side, which might be better (but it might be worse) than what I’ve currently got going on. Am I the only one who does this?

fringe

I love the internet. Aside from going to a convention or something, it’s just about the greatest way to find other people who share my love for shows like Fringe, and I can do it from the comfort of my room. Since I’m always investigating for cool new sites and keeping up to date with my old favs, I thought I’d compile a good resource list for my blog readers. Then you have somewhere to check out if I’m too busy to post one day, and you’re really looking for that Fringe fix.

I really love the way Fringe Blogger’s site is set up. It’s very easy to find info, although their spoilers link doesn’t work anymore—I guess because there aren’tanymore new episodes, there isn’t really anything to spoil. The observers files give you a lot of help if you’re confused about something that went on and then there’s the clues section for when you’re really lost. It runs backwards chronologically, so you start at the end, and when you click on the very last page, you get to see all the promo stuff from before the show started airing. This section is where you will find episode reviews, notes, and easter egg lists. It’s also got a pretty decent following on Facebook, which proves to me that other people out there also think it’s a site worthy of your attention!

The most in-depth site I’ve ever had seen, though, is the practically professional Fringepedia site. It is a huuuuge wiki site for fans, by fans. It has just about everything you can think of, and people are still working on it. Whenever I’m trying to remember when something specific happened or what a minor character’s name was, I’m on Fringepedia checking everything out. I love the organization they have going on there. Color coding the characters to show who is alive and who isn’t? Total genius.

One other place that I know it isn’t a fan site per sayis the IMDB Fringe site.  I can’t help reading all the trivia and goofs. It is so fun to be “in the know” about my favorite show! I also like to go there so that I can keep tabs on everyone’s new projects and see if there’s any new information. I am always checking the message boards there, too. For a show that has finished it’s run, it’s nice to see people still posting about it. I also like that you can find out information on anyone affiliated with the show, from crew to people who made a single guest appearance to all of our main character favs. It helps me find new shows and movies to watch, too.

Well, there you have it. A few places I go to get my Fringe fix! That being said, I (of course) hope that my site is your go-to for all things Fringe!
